Core Clapton: Integrating Digital Health into Osteopathy

In a world where chronic pain is on the rise and pain medication addiction is a growing concern, Core Clapton Osteopathy provides a beacon of hope. Discover the role of digital health in Osteopathy on their mission to transform lives through non-surgical, drug-free approaches to pain management.

don’t take our word for it

While chronic pain is on the rise and pain medication addiction is a growing concern, Core Clapton Osteopathy provides a beacon of hope. Core (Centre for Osteopathic Research and Excellence) Clapton, is on a mission to transform lives through non-surgical, drug-free approaches to pain management. At the heart of their efforts are values of community, collaboration, excellence, respect, and empowerment.

We recently had the privilege of interviewing Core Clapton to learn more about their work and the role of digital health in their patient empowerment strategies. Here’s what we discovered:

1. A Mission for All

Core Clapton's primary goal is to make osteopathy accessible to everyone, regardless of their income. They provide low-cost and free osteopathy to underserved communities while conducting research to understand its impact on chronic pain. This dual mission sets them apart, and they've already helped hundreds of individuals find relief.

“We've only been open for 6 years but to date we have helped hundreds of people find relief thanks to our model whereby full-paying clients help subsidise those on low-income.”
Danny Orchard, the owner of Core Clapton

2. The Digital Transition

The clinic made a significant move toward digitalization, not only in note-taking but also in exercise prescription. They felt that they could save time also in exercise prescription and decided to integrate Physitrack's digital exercise prescription software into their practice to enhance patient care. This transition has allowed practitioners to spend more time listening and providing hands-on treatment while patients can access and follow their prescribed exercises conveniently from home.

3. Patient-Centric Benefits

The use of Physitrack has not only made Core Clapton's clinic run more streamlined but patient's have also given positive feedback. Patients have mentioned how they appreciate the tailored approach, progress tracking, and instructional videos that help with exercise execution. It serves as a valuable follow-up tool that keeps patients engaged in their recovery.

“It helps patients understand and visualise exercises, especially if they are not familiar with these exercises, and allows for a gradual increase in repetitions and sets.”

4. Improved Engagement and Outcomes

Since implementing Physitrack, Core Clapton has observed improved patient engagement and outcomes. Patients feel more empowered and committed to their recovery when they have access to clear exercise instructions and progress tracking. This digital tool reduces errors in understanding exercise prescriptions, ultimately leading to better adherence and recovery outcomes.

“Our favourite aspect of Physitrack is how fast, intuitive, and varied the software is in the choice of exercises.”

5. Challenges and Solutions

During the integration of Physitrack, some challenges arose when practitioners needed time to adapt to the platform, and additional training was suggested for new staff members. Navigating the extensive exercise library posed a challenge, but pre-made templates simplified exercise prescription, as did the ability to ‘favourite’ exercises for easy access. Patients without online access faced limitations, which were mitigated through visual aids and printing to help them remember their exercises.

6. The Future of Digital Health

Looking ahead, Core Clapton envisions digital health playing an even more significant role in patient empowerment. They foresee closer integration with patient goals, offering greater autonomy and facilitating goal visualisation. Easy access to exercises via smartphones will be crucial.

“Digital health is seen as a vital component in supporting patients both within and beyond the treatment room, boosting body confidence, strength, and awareness. This empowerment leads patients to take greater responsibility for their health, ultimately resulting in improved long-term treatment outcomes. All of this contributes to an evolving landscape of patient empowerment strategies.”

In conclusion, Core Clapton Osteopathy is leading the way in making osteopathy accessible and effective for all, while embracing the power of digital health tools such as Physitrack to enhance patient empowerment. Their dedication to their mission and values is paving the path to a future where chronic pain can be managed effectively, without the need for medication or surgery.
